Patricia A. Bender is a photographic artist living and working in New Jersey and Michigan. She began studying photography in the early 2000s, and was hooked from the moment she shot and developed her first image. She works exclusively with black and white film in the traditional chemical darkroom, and personally creates each work from the initial firing of the camera shutter to the final gelatin silver print.
The miraculous beauty of our world inspires much of Bender’s work. Her camera is a license to explore, and photographic images are the presentation of what she discovers.
She is most often drawn to quiet moments and simple things, and hopes her images will touch an emotional chord in those who view them by somehow transcending the “real.”
Bender has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, and is the recipient of numerous awards for her work. Her work is held in private and corporate collections, and is also represented in New Jersey by the Gallery at the Framing Mill.
